TOKYO VICE

1999, Tokyo: Jake Adelstein (Ansel Elgort), an idealistic young journalist from Missouri, succeeds in becoming the first foreigner to work on a major newspaper in Japan, the Meicho Shimbun. He joins the crime beat and quickly finds himself embroiled in the three very different spheres of the Japanese underworld: working with the grizzled police officer Detective Katagiri (Ken Watanabe); bonding with his fellow American runaway Samantha (Rachel Keller), a glamorous hostess; and befriending the stoic Yakuza foot-soldier Sato (Show Kasamatsu).

 

Based on a true story, TOKYO VICE is a (HBO) Max crime drama series that was created by Tony Award-winning playwright J.T. Rogers, with episodes directed by Michael Mann, Alan Poul, Josef Wladyka, and Hikari. It was filmed almost entirely in Japan and explores its titular city in a way never-before-seen on Western screens. Seasons 1 & 2 are now available on Max and in territories around the world, including BBC iPlayer in the UK

CURSED

Young rebel Nimue (Katherine Langford), armed with burgeoning magical powers and a legendary sword, allies with young sell-sword Arthur (Devon Terrell) and mysterious wizard Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgård) to help save her people from extinction at the hands of the tyrannical Father Carden (Peter Mullan) and his Red Paladin army.

 

Created by Tom Wheeler  (PUSS IN BOOTS) and the legendary comic-book artist Frank Miller (THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS), CURSED is an epic reimagining of Arthurian myth.

 

SENSE8

Created by the legendary storyteller Lily and Lana Wachowksi (The Matrix series), SENSE8 stars Tuppence  Middleton, Brian J. Smith, Doona Bae, Tine Desai, Jamie Clayton, Max Riemelt, and Miguel Àngel Silvestre. Season 1, Season 2, and the epic finale movie are all available worldwide on Netflix.

The actions of individual lives affect one another through the centuries as a lawyer saves a slave, a composer struggles with his magnum opus and a genetically modified man faces his consciousness. CLOUD ATLAS explores how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present, and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.

 

Lily Wachowski, Lana Wachowski, and Tom Tykwer direct an all-star cast including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Doona Bae, Jim Broadbent, and Ben Whishaw.

INTRIGO TRILOGY

INTRIGO is a film trilogy based on novellas by acclaimed Swedish author Håkan Nesser, each exploring what happens when dark hidden secrets come to surface and what it means to deal with guilt, revenge, and atonement.

 

DEATH OF AN AUTHOR, starring Ben Kingsley and Benno Fürmann: An author plots the murder of his wife – but her body is never found, and he’s convinced that she’s still alive.

PULP: A FILM ABOUT LIFE, DEATH AND SUPERMARKETS

Directed by Florian Habicht, PULP follows eponymous brit-pop legends as they share their thoughts on fame, love, mortality – and car maintenance, in a film that features a career best concert performance weaved together with the band’s personal offerings as well as a specially-staged tableaux featuring ordinary people recruited on the streets of Sheffield.

A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING

In a bid to recover his losses, a failed American sales representative (Tom Hanks) travels to Saudi Arabia to sell a holographic teleconferencing system to a wealthy monarch.

 

Tom Tykwer (BABYLON BERLIN, RUN LOLA RUN) writes and directs this adaptation of Dave Eggers celebrated 2012 novel.

THE HOLDING
